Every month, we explore the duality at the heart of all things- the bright, blooming moments of life and the quiet, shadowed ones that shape us just as deeply. 
Perfume of Light & Shadow is our ongoing ritual series, pairing one fragrance of Light with one fragrance of Shadow to honor the complexity of seasons, stories, folklore, and the human spirit.
Each pairing is curated to reflect a theme of the month: beginnings and endings, harvest and decay, devotion and mystery, the turning of the year, or the myths that hold both radiance and darkness in their hands.
Each month, this listing will update with the new Light & Shadow pairing and its meaning. Once the monthly samples are sold out, they’re gone.
Month One:
New Moon (Light) + Hekate (Shadow)
This pairing is intentionally tricky, because light and shadow rarely behave the way we expect. New Moon is our Light. Though the sky is dark, the sliver of the New Moon marks beginnings: a fresh lunar cycle, a clean slate, the first breath of a new month in older calendars. Our New Moon perfume reflects that brightness with jasmine, and lily, a soft feminine glow that feels like possibility.
Hekate is our Shadow.
She is the Goddess of the Crossroads, the torchbearer who guides travelers, the companion of the dead; she is the tender guardian of the shadowed path. Our Hekate perfume holds both sides of her: cypress, guardian of cemeteries, and rose, her Flower of Fire, protective, fierce, and luminous. The rose feels like her light, the cypress her shadow, and together they embody her complexity.
I chose this pairing because both fragrances carry both sides within them. They remind us that nothing is purely light or purely shadow, not the moon, not the goddess, not us. Every beginning has a darkness; every darkness has a spark.
